Hong Kong: Shares start with healthy gains

HONG KONG stocks opened on the front foot Tuesday (Nov 1) morning as bargain buyers moved in following the previous day’s losses while traders were also awaiting the Federal Reserve’s latest policy meeting later in the week.
The Hang Seng Index jumped 1.18 per cent, or 172.90 points, to 14,859.92.
The Shanghai Composite Index edged up 0.21 per cent, or 6.02 points, to 2,899.50, while the Shenzhen Composite Index on China’s second exchange added 0.24 per cent, or 4.49 points, to 1,890.91. AFP
