Hong Kong stocks close down, Shanghai ticks higher

    [HONG KONG] Hong Kong stocks ended lower Thursday after the previous day's rally fuelled by hopes of low US interest rates while Shanghai extended gains.

    The Hang Seng index in Hong Kong closed down 0.13 per cent, or 26.69 points, at 20,776.70.

    The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index edged up 0.11 per cent, or 3.28 points, to 3,003.92 and the Shenzhen Composite Index, which tracks stocks on China's second exchange, rose 0.29 per cent, or 5.44 points, to 1,912.21.
