Hong Kong: Stocks close higher

    SHARES rose in Hong Kong on Monday as investors cheered dovish remarks by Federal Reserve boss Jerome Powell on his outlook for tapering the bank's vast monetary easing programme.

    The Hang Seng Index gained 0.52 per cent, or 131.65 points, to 25,539.54.

    The Shanghai Composite Index climbed 0.17 per cent, or 5.99 points, to 3,528.15, while the Shenzhen Composite Index on China's second exchange edged up 0.06 per cent, or 1.42 points, to 2,441.11.
