Hong Kong: Stocks drop for a fifth day

    HONG Kong stocks sank on Wednesday (Sep 7) for the fifth successive day as global markets are roiled by concerns about central bank plans to ramp up interest rates to fight inflation.

    The Hang Seng Index lost 0.83 per cent, or 158.43 points, to 19,044.30.

    The Shanghai Composite Index edged up 0.09 per cent, or 2.85 points, to 3,246.29, while the Shenzhen Composite Index on China’s second exchange gained 0.47 per cent, or 9.92 points, to 2,123.20. AFP
