[HONG KONG] Hong Kong stocks rose in opening trade Tuesday following the previous day's losses while tepid US data tempered bets on the Federal Reserve hiking interest rates soon.

The Hang Seng Index rose 0.69 per cent, or 159.60 points, to 23,197.14.

But the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index slipped 0.12 per cent, or 3.77 points, to 3,037.40, while the Shenzhen Composite Index, which tracks stocks on China's second exchange, also dipped 0.12 per cent, or 2.49 points, to 2,025.07.
