Hong Kong: Stocks end 1.12% down
[HONG KONG] Hong Kong shares closed 1.12 per cent lower on Wednesday following a tepid lead from Wall Street while Shanghai was hit by news Chinese A shares would not yet be included in a global benchmark index of equities.
The benchmark Hang Seng Index eased 301.88 points to close at 26,687.64 on turnover of HK$144.13 billion.
The Shanghai Composite Index edged down 0.15 per cent, or 7.49 points, to 5,106.04, on turnover of 1.0 trillion yuan.
But the Shenzhen Composite Index, which tracks stocks on China's second exchange, advanced 2.03 per cent, or 60.73 points, to 3,055.58, on turnover of 810.8 billion yuan.
