Hong Kong: Stocks end the day lower
HONG KONG stocks fell on Tuesday(Aug 9) as traders await key US inflation data, while a morning rally in developers was wiped out after the government denied claims it was considering removing an extra stamp duty for mainland Chinese buying property in the city.
The Hang Seng Index dipped 0.21 per cent, or 42.33 points, to 20,003.44.
The Shanghai Composite Index gained 0.32 per cent, or 10.50 points, to 3,247.43, while the Shenzhen Composite Index on China’s second exchange added 0.24 per cent, or 5.27 points, to 2,188.49. AFP
