[HONG KONG] Hong Kong stocks ended Thursday with gains, snapping five days of losses that had wiped around eight per cent off the Hang Seng Index, though traders remain concerned about volatility across world markets.

But the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index sank 1.43 per cent, or 47.21 points, to 3,262.05 and the Shenzhen Composite Index, which tracks stocks on China's second exchange, was up 1.18 per cent, or 20.18 points, to 1,734.57.
