Hong Kong: Stocks end slightly higher
HONG KONG stocks closed higher Tuesday on hopes the United States will remove some of the tariffs on Chinese imports put in place by Donald Trump, though earlier gains were pared by ongoing worries about a recession in leading economies.
The Hang Seng Index rose 0.10 per cent or 22.72 points to 21,853.07.
But the Shanghai Composite Index was marginally lower, inching down 1.40 points to 3,404.03, while the Shenzhen Composite Index on China’s second exchange lost 0.55 per cent or 12.33 points to 2,232.98. AFP
