Hong Kong: Stocks open with big losses

    HONG KONG and Shanghai stocks sank at the open of trade on Monday (Oct 24) as investors nervously wait to find out China’s economic policy direction after Xi Jinping was handed a third term as leader.

    The Hang Seng Index dropped 1.95 per cent, or 316.37 points, to 15,894.75.

    The Shanghai Composite Index slipped 0.14 per cent, or 4.18 points, to 3,034.75, while the Shenzhen Composite Index on China’s second exchange was barely moved, inching up 0.01 point to 1,966.94. AFP
