Hong Kong: Stocks open higher

    [HONG KONG] Hong Kong stocks edged up in opening trades Wednesday with energy firms lifted by a bounce in oil prices after a recent sell-off.

    The Hang Seng Index added 0.21 per cent, or 48.36 points, to 22,889.33.

    But the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index slid 0.13 per cent, or 4.00 points, to 3,104.77 while the Shenzhen Composite Index, which tracks stocks on China's second exchange, slipped 0.27 per cent, or 5.04 points, to 1,867.98.
