[HONG KONG] Hong Kong stocks rose at the open Friday following a positive lead from Wall Street at the end of a volatile week for global markets, but fears lingered over China's economy and a possible US interest rate hike.

The benchmark Hang Seng Index added 0.68 per cent, or 147.63 points, to 21,710.13 in the first few minutes.

But in Shanghai the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index edged down 0.26 per cent, or 8.41 points, to 3,189.48.

The Shenzhen Composite Index, which tracks stocks on China's second exchange, eased 0.20 per cent, or 3.60 points, to 1,766.78.
