Hong Kong: Stocks open lower on Monday

    HONG KONG stocks fell at the open of business on Monday (Sep 19), extending last week’s steep losses, with traders bracing for another sharp interest rate hike by the Federal Reserve this week.

    The Hang Seng Index fell 0.35 per cent, or 66.34 points, to 18,695.35.

    The Shanghai Composite Index eased 0.12 per cent, or 3.64 points, to 3,122.75, while the Shenzhen Composite Index on China’s second exchange dipped 0.17 per cent, or 3.32 points, to 2,002.28. AFP
