Hong Kong: Stocks open lower on Wednesday

    HONG KONG stocks fell further at the open on Wednesday (Oct 12) morning on growing recession worries, while investors gird themselves for US inflation data that could play a huge role in the Federal Reserve’s interest rate decision next month.

    The Hang Seng Index slipped 0.44 per cent, or 74.09 points, to 16,758.27.

    The Shanghai Composite Index eased 0.10 per cent, or 3.08 points, to 2,976.72, while the Shenzhen Composite Index on China’s second exchange edged down 0.08 per cent, or 1.58 points, to 1,880.42. AFP
