Hong Kong: Stocks open sharply lower on Monday
HONG Kong stocks tumbled at the open on Monday, following a hefty drop on Wall Street in response to US Federal Reserve boss Jerome Powell’s comments warning of more interest rate hikes.
The Hang Seng Index sank 1.04 per cent, or 209.75 points, to 19,960.29.
The Shanghai Composite Index lost 1.02 per cent, or 33.12 points, to 3,203.10, while the Shenzhen Composite Index on China’s second exchange fell 1.25 per cent, or 26.89 points, to 2,119.30. AFP
