Hong Kong: Stocks open with small gains

[HONG KONG] Hong Kong shares edged up at Wednesday's open, having dived more than three percent the day before, but investors remain on edge over geopolitical and trade tensions.

The Hang Seng Index added 0.22 per cent, or 54.62 points, to 25,401.17.

But the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index eased 0.57 per cent, or 14.86 points, to 2,579.97, while the Shenzhen Composite Index, which tracks stocks on China's second exchange, dropped 0.52 per cent, or 6.78 points, to 1,293.51.
