Hong Kong: Stocks resume uptrend at open, Shanghai dips
[HONG KONG] Hong Kong stocks rose soon after opening Thursday, in line with a rally in New York and European markets but Shanghai edged down for a second successive day on lingering worries over the Chinese economy.
Hong Kong's Hang Seng Index added 0.30 per cent, or 59.16 points, to 20,055.42 in the first few minutes.
And in Shanghai, the composite index slid 0.52 per cent, or 14.99 points, to 2,847.57, while the Shenzhen Composite Index, which tracks stocks on China's second exchange, edged up 0.05 per cent, or 0.94 points, to 1,714.38.
