Hong Kong: Stocks see 12th straight rise, eye on record
[HONG KONG] Hong Kong stocks rose for a 12th day on Wednesday, putting them on track for a record high touched more than 10 years ago, while Shanghai also pressed on with an impressive rally.
The Hang Seng Index edged up 0.20 per cent, or 62.31 points, to close at 31,073.72. The index is less than 900 points short of its all-time high of 31,958.41 hit in October 2007.
The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index climbed 0.23 per cent, or 7.93 points, to 3,421.83 - a ninth-successive rise - and the Shenzhen Composite Index, which tracks stocks on China's second exchange, fell 0.33 per cent, or 6.52 points, to 1,945.66.
