Hong Kong: Stocks start day with gains

[HONG KONG] Hong Kong stocks rose in the first few minutes of trade on Wednesday following another record close on Wall Street as bargain hunters moved in after two days of losses.

The Hang Seng Index rose 0.30 per cent, or 83.88 points, to 28,238.85. But the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index dipped 0.10 per cent, or 3.39 points, to 3,384.86 and the Shenzhen Composite Index, which tracks stocks on China's second exchange, edged down 0.07 per cent, or 1.34 points, to 2,008.31.
