Hong Kong: Stocks suffer sharp losses
[HONG KONG] Hong Kong and Shanghai stocks tumbled Wednesday, in line with an Asia-wide sell-off on worries about sharp rises in US interest rates, while traders were also spooked by weak Chinese factory data.
The Hang Seng Index fell 1.36 per cent, or 423.94 points, to end at 30,844.72.
The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index lost 0.99 per cent, or 32.66 points, to 3,259.41 and the Shenzhen Composite Index, which tracks stocks on China's second exchange, added 0.16 per cent, or 2.86 points, to 1,811.78.
