Manulife US Reit to be included in MSCI Singapore Small Cap Index
MANULIFE US Reit, the US office real estate investment trust (Reit) listed on the Singapore Exchange, will be included in the MSCI Singapore Small Cap Index after the close of trading on Nov 30, 2016.
Inclusion in stock market indices, which exchange-traded funds (ETFs) can follow, can improve liquidity and investor interest.
The MSCI Singapore Small Cap Index has 67 constituents as at end-October, and represents 14 per cent of the free float-adjusted market capitalisation of the Singapore equity universe.
As at end-October, the index is up 12.3 per cent for the year, compared to a 6.1 per cent return for the MSCI World Small Cap index. Top components are SATS, Mapletree Commercial Trust, Venture Corp, Singapore Post, and Mapletree Industrial Trust.
Manulife US Reit closed trading at US$0.81, up one US cent, before the announcement was made.
