Seoul: Won erases some losses after touching 20-mth low; stocks flat

[SEOUL] The South Korean won erased most of its intraday losses but still fell for a third straight session on Wednesday while local shares also recovered from early falls to finish nearly flat.

The won finished onshore trade down 0.4 per cent at 1,126.5 per dollar, compared to Tuesday's local close of 1,122.6.

It touched as low as 1,129.6 during the session, its weakest since July 10, 2013.

The Korea Composite Stock Price Index (KOSPI) edged down 0.2 per cent to end at 1,980.83 points, propped up by firm gains in heavyweights Samsung Electronics Co Ltd and Hyundai Motor Co.
