Shanghai: Shares down 0.53% in morning trade

[SHANGHAI] China's benchmark Shanghai stock index was down 0.53 per cent on Wednesday morning, as investors took profits after the market broke above the key 4,000-point level, dealers said.
The Shanghai Composite Index slid 21.24 points to 3,996.43.
The Shenzhen Composite Index, which tracks stocks on China's second exchange, edged up 0.07 per cent, or 1.51 points, to 2,266.61.
