[SHANGHAI] China's benchmark Shanghai stock index closed up 0.21 per cent on Wednesday, despite some profit-taking after rising above the key 4,000-point level, dealers said.
The Shanghai Composite Index added 8.38 points to 4,026.05 on turnover of 678.8 billion yuan (S$148.9 billion).
The Shenzhen Composite Index, which tracks stocks on China's second exchange, rose 1.01 per cent, or 22.88 points, to 2,287.98 on turnover of 605.1 billion yuan.
