Shanghai: Stocks close up 0.64%
[SHANGHAI] China's benchmark Shanghai stock index closed up 0.64 percent on Tuesday, ending above the key 4,000-point level, boosted by earlier government measures to support the market, dealers said.
The Shanghai Composite Index added 25.56 points to 4,017.67 on turnover of 646.4 billion yuan (S$144.6 billion).
The Shenzhen Composite Index, which tracks stocks on China's second exchange, rose 1.56 per cent, or 34.81 points, to 2,265.10 on turnover of 560.6 billion yuan.
