Shanghai: Stocks open higher

[SHANGHAI] Chinese stocks opened slightly higher on Monday morning as traders returned from a week-long holiday, tracking a global gain during the break, dealers said.

The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index rose 0.52 per cent, or 15.76 points, to 3,020.46.

The Shenzhen Composite Index, which tracks stocks on China's second exchange, added 0.46 per cent, or 9.12 points, to 2,004.73.

Hong Kong was closed for a public holiday.
