Shanghai: Stocks retreat but Hong Kong rises

[HONG KONG] Shanghai stocks ended the day lower Tuesday on profit-taking after the previous day's data-fuelled rally, but Hong Kong eked out a gain, in line with a regional advance.
The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index dropped 0.34 per cent, or 10.31 points, to 3,023.65 and the Shenzhen Composite Index, which tracks stocks on China's second exchange, slid 0.86 per cent, or 16.88 points, to 1,935.60.
And Hong Kong's Hang Seng Index added 0.31 per cent, or 63.63 points, to 20,504.44.
