Shanghai: Stocks sink after MSCI disappointment
[HONG KONG] The main Shanghai stock market plunged at the open on Wednesday after it was again refused entry into index compiler MSCI's list of global benchmarks, while growing fears Britain will leave the EU also dragged on Hong Kong.
The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index fell 0.97 per cent, or 27.50 points, to 2,814.69, while the Shenzhen Composite Index, which tracks stocks on China's second exchange, dropped 1.07 per cent, or 19.67 points, to 1,812.96.
And the Hang Seng Index in Hong Kong eased 1.11 per cent, or 226.52 points, to 20,161.01.
