THE total value of Singapore stocks fell in September amid pandemic-related economic disruptions, China Evergrande woes and the US Federal Reserve's looming intent to taper its quantitative easing policy.
The 665 companies listed here had a combined market capitalisation of S$845.5 billion on September 30, down 0.1 per cent from S$846.1 billion as at end-August. The last time the total market value was lower than the current figure was in February, when it hit S$843.1 billion.
The number of counters that saw its market capitalisation decline outnumbered those that registered gains 284 to 223.
