Singapore shares close 0.3% higher on Wednesday

    SINGAPORE stocks ended 0.3 per cent higher on Wednesday, with the Straits Times Index moving up 9.83 points to 3,173.76.

    The blue-chip index was buoyed after Chinese leaders said they would improve financial support for the country's real economy.

    About 2.66 billion shares worth S$1.35 billion in total changed hands, which worked out to an average unit price of S$0.51 per share.

    The most actively traded counter was Addvalue Technologies, which fell S$0.002 to S$0.048 with 97.4 million shares changing hands. Other actives included Noble Group and C&G Environmental Protection.

    Gainers outnumbered losers 260 to 204, or about nine up for every seven down.
