Singapore shares close 0.4 per cent up on Wednesday
SINGAPORE stocks ended 0.4 per cent higher on Wednesday, with the Straits Times Index (STI) rising 10.68 points to 2,863.65.
The blue-chip index extended its gains following an overnight pick-up on Wall Street after data showed relatively more solid consumer spending in the United States.
About 1.26 billion shares worth S$709.1 million in total changed hands, which worked out to an average unit price of S$0.56 per share.
The most actively traded counter was Noble Group, which rose S$0.02 to S$0.46 with 81.6 million shares changing hands. Other actives included Rex International and Stratech Group.
Gainers outnumbered losers 250 to 153, or about five up for every three down.
