Singapore shares close 0.5% higher on Tuesday

SHARE prices in the local bourse rose for the second straight day on Tuesday, with the key Straits Times Index gaining 13.56 points or 0.5 per cent to hit 2,830.63.
Some 1.6 billion shares worth S$902 million were done, with 208 counters up and 170 down.
