Singapore shares end lower on Tuesday

SHARE prices on the Singapore bourse closed lower on Tuesday, with the key Straits Times Index down 11.01 points, or 0.35 per cent, to 3,109.91.
About 1.5 billion securities worth S$865.6 million in total changed hands, which worked out to an average unit price of S$0.58 per share. Losers outnumbered gainers 249 to 138.
The most actively traded stock was Rex International, which gained 0.5 Singapore cent, or 5.9 per cent, to end at S$0.09 after 123.4 million shares changed hands. Other actives included Rich Capital Holdings and Allied Technologies.
Serial System Ltd called for a trading halt before market open, pending the release of an announcement. No announcement had been made as at market close.
