Singapore shares open 0.2% up on Monday

SINGAPORE stocks opened 0.2 per cent higher on Monday, with the Straits Times Index moving up 4.91 points to 2,882.53 as at 9am.

The blue-chip index advanced after a pick-up in crude oil prices.

About 18.7 million shares worth S$12.8 million in total had changed hands as at 9am, which worked out to an average unit price of S$0.68 per share.

The most actively traded counter was Terratech, which rose S$0.001 to S$0.059 with 3.5 million shares changing hands. Other actives included mDR and Rex International.

Gainers outnumbered losers 71 to 30, or about seven up for every three down.
