Singapore shares open 0.2% up on Tuesday
SINGAPORE stocks opened 0.2 per cent higher on Tuesday, with the Straits Times Index moving up 5.64 points to 2,875.88 as at 9.03 am.
The blue-chip index rose after crude oil prices jumped to a one-year high on optimism that major crude producers will cooperate to reduce output.
About 152.7 million shares worth S$51.7 million in total changed hands, which worked out to an average unit price of S$0.34 per share.
The most actively traded counter was commodities trader Noble Group, which rose S$0.001 to S$0.199 with 22.8 million shares changing hands. Other actives included SunMoon Food and IPCO International.
Gainers outnumbered losers 108 to 29, or about four up for every one down.
