SINGAPORE stocks opened 0.3 per cent lower on Monday, with the Straits Times Index shedding 8.5 points to 2,799.82 as at 9.00am.
The blue-chip index had a weak opening despite a modest rally on Wall Street on Friday on the back of gains in energy stocks.
About 195.9 million shares worth S$45.6 million in total changed hands, which worked out to an average unit price of S$0.23 per share.
The most actively traded counter was Healthway Medical, which rose S$0.003 to S$0.033 with 131.7 million shares changing hands. Other actives included LionGold and Trendlines.
Gainers outnumbered losers 73 to 47, or about three up for every two down.
