Singapore shares open 13 points higher

SHARES on the local bourse opened higher with the key Straits Times Index up 13.14 points at 2,801.94.
Some 49 million shares worth S$40 million were done with 81 counters up and 39 counters down.
Analysts expect high volatility in the markets as the final leg of the US presidential elections has arrived.
"What the market needs now is clarity and certainty," said Alex Wijaya of CMC Markets.
"Unless a clear victory is seen at the polls, the results of the election could be contested, thus prolonging the uncertainty which could drive the market to swing both ways," he added.
