Singapore shares open almost flat on Thursday

SINGAPORE shares opened almost flat on Thursday, in what could be a trading session lacking in direction following a mixed showing on Wall Street overnight.
At 9.02am, the benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) was up 1.7 points at 2,830.27. But gainers outnumbered losers 71 to 54.
Some 48.5 million shares worth S$44.6 million were traded.
