Singapore shares open flat on Thursday
THE local market opened unchanged on Thursday, with the Straits Times Index gaining 0.61 point to 3,026.31 as at 9.00am.
This came after a subdued finish on Wall Street that followed a mixed bag of corporate earnings in the United States.
About 34.2 million shares worth S$18.3 million in total changed hands, which worked out to an average unit price of S$0.54 per share.
The most actively traded stock was Stratech Group, which rose S$0.003 to S$0.060 with 7.2 million shares changing hands. The company said on Wednesday that it had clinched a contract to upgrade the intelligent airfield surveillance and foreign object and debris detection system at Changi Airport.
Other actives included Asia-Pacific Strategic Investments and Ipco International.
Gainers outnumbered losers 66 to 38, or about seven up for every four down.
