SINGAPORE stocks opened flat on Wednesday, with the Straits Times Index shedding 0.2 point to 3,334.47 as at 9.03 am.
About 74.9 million shares worth S$86.2 million in total changed hands, which worked out to an average unit price of S$1.15 per share.
The most actively traded counter was Magnus Energy, which was flat at S$0.001 with 14.4 million shares changing hands. Other actives included Silverlake Axis and Jiutian Chemical.
Gainers outnumbered losers 87 to 52.
Elsewhere, the Dow Jones surged to another record Tuesday, fuelled by huge gains by industrial heavyweights Caterpillar and 3M after strong earnings, reported AFP. The Dow rose 0.7 per cent to 23,441.76, its sixth record in seven sessions.
Tokyo stocks opened higher on Wednesday, with the Nikkei extending the longest winning streak in its nearly 70-year history as Japan kicked off its latest corporate earnings season, said Reuters.
