Singapore shares open flat on Wednesday, STI down 0.04%
SINGAPORE stocks opened flat on Wednesday, with the Straits Times Index losing 1.4 points, or 0.04 per cent, to 3,475.13 as at 9.01am.
This came as Wall Street lost steam overnight following a late selloff for tech stocks, and weak fourth-quarter earnings from Dow member, Walmart.
On the Singapore bourse, about 47 million shares worth S$76.9 million changed hands.
Losers outnumbered gainers 77 to 58.
The most actively traded counter were Thai Beverage, which was flat at S$0.835 with 6.4 million shares traded; and Singtel which was down 0.3 per cent, or one Singapore cent to S$3.37 with 2.9 million shares traded.
Other active index stocks included Wilmar International which was down 0.3 per cent, or one Singapore cent to S$3.04; and UOB which was up 0.15 per cent, or four Singapore cents to S$27.26.
