SINGAPORE shares opened stronger on Thursday following a mixed trading session on Wall Street.
As at 9.01am, the Straits Times Index (STI) was up by 0.4 per cent or 13.57 points to 3,087.88.
Gainers outnumbered losers 80 to 47 after 91.9 million securities worth S$65.7 million were traded.
The most active counters by volume were seafood supplier Oceanus Group and property developer Hatten Land, with both extending gains from the previous day.
Oceanus Group 579 gained 0.1 Singapore cent or 2.5 per cent to 4.1 cents while Hatten Land PH 0 w as up 0.1 Singapore cent or 1.5 per cent at seven cents.
Banking stocks gained ground amid a sea of green in early trade. DBS D05 gained S$0.16 or 0.5 per cent at S$30.27, UOB U11 rose S$0.26 or 1 per cent to S$25.85, and OCBC O39 ed ged up S$0.05 or 0.4 per cent to S$11.51.

Among index stocks, Yangzijiang Shipbuilding B S6 saw brisk trading as 1.9 million securities worth S$2.7 million changed hands. Its share price remained unchanged at S$1.39.
Over in the US, stocks ended mixed on Wednesday after tech shares were hit by investors' reassessment of equity bets in the expectation of higher interest rates.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average ended with a 0.3 per cent gain at 34,390.72, and the broad-based S&P 500 rose 0.2 per cent to 4,359.46. The tech-rich Nasdaq Composite Index slipped 0.2 per cent to close at 14,512.44.
In Europe, stocks ended higher on Wednesday as AstraZeneca lifted healthcare stocks on a deal to buy a rare disease drugmaker, while chip equipment producer ASM gained on an upbeat earnings forecast.
The pan-European Stoxx 600 index rose 0.6 per cent, with investors gradually looking past a 2.2 per cent fall in the previous session.
Elsewhere in Asia, Tokyo stocks opened higher on Thursday as a cheaper yen against the dollar helped boost Japanese exporters.
The benchmark Nikkei 225 index was up 0.1 per cent or 38.84 points at 29,583.13 in early trade, while the broader Topix index edged up 0.04 per cent or 0.88 point to 2,039.17.
