Singapore shares open higher on Tuesday, STI up 11.44 points to 3,580.87
SINGAPORE shares opened 0.3 per cent higher on Tuesday, with the Straits Times Index up 11.44 points to 3,580.87 as at 9.01am.
About 64 million shares worth S$92 million in total changed hands, as gainers outnumbered losers 86 to 32.
The most actively traded stock was Lion Gold, which rose S$0.001 to S$0.002 with 10 million shares changing hands.
Other actives included Golden Agri-Resources and Nico Steel.
Active index stocks included DBS, up S$0.16 or 0.605 per cent at S$26.6; and Keppel Corporation shares trading up S$0.19 or 2.292 per cent higher at S$8.48.
In Wall Street, US stocks touched a record intraday level after US senators struck a deal to end the federal government shutdown, Bloomberg said.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 65.67 points, or 0.25 per cent, to 26,137.39, the S&P 500 gained 13.41 points, or 0.48 per cent, to 2,823.71 and the Nasdaq Composite added 48.93 points, or 0.67 per cent, to 7,385.31.
In regional markets, Japan's Topix index rose 0.6 per cent as at 9.25am in Tokyo. Australia's S&P/ASX 200 Index gained 0.7 per cent and South Korea's Kospi index advanced 0.5 per cent, Bloomberg added.
