THE benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) edged slightly downwards on Wednesday morning, losing 2.56 points or 0.09 per cent, to 2,894.85 points.
On Tuesday, Wall Street closed mixed while Europe's main stock markets finished higher.
By 9.03am, some 70.3 million shares worth S$77.2 million changed hands on the Singapore Exchange, as gainers narrowly outnumbered losers 71 to 61.
Top traded stocks by value included DBS, UOB, Keppel Corp, OCBC and SGX.
