Singapore shares open as stocks' slide from April high continues

IT was another dim opening for the Singapore stock market on Friday as the benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) fell 7.71 points, or 0.27 per cent, to 2,854.59 points.
Some 129 million shares worth S$301 million were traded. Losers outnumbered gainers 67 to 56.
Top shares by value traded were DBS, OCBC, Singtel, UOB and Mandarin Oriental.
Stocks have traded lower this week after gains in the last two. The STI had hit a monthly high of 2,960.78 points on April 21.
