Tokyo: Shares close higher after six straight losses

[TOKYO] Tokyo stocks closed higher Monday, rebounding from six consecutive losing sessions as investors returned to the market following public holidays in Japan.
The benchmark Nikkei 225 index gained 0.68 per cent, or 109.31 points, to end at 16,216.03, while the Topix index of all first-section shares rose 0.64 per cent, or 8.34 points, to 1,306.66.
