[TOKYO] Tokyo shares closed lower after a see-saw session Tuesday, with investors on edge over worries about the global economy and tensions in the Middle East.
The benchmark Nikkei 225 index at the Tokyo Stock Exchange lost 0.42 per cent, or 76.98 points, to close at 18,374.00, having swung between gains and losses throughout the day.
The broader Topix index of all first-section shares ended down 0.33 per cent, or 4.96 points, at 1,504.71.
