Tokyo: Shares fall on US rate-hike worries
TOKYO stocks closed lower on Wednesday (Aug 31) after nervous trade, extending US losses as investors remained wary about the pace of rate hikes planned by the US Federal Reserve to fight inflation.
The benchmark Nikkei 225 index lost 0.37 per cent, or 104.05 points, at 28,091.53, while the broader Topix index gave up 0.27 per cent, or 5.22 points, to 1,963.16. AFP
