Tokyo: Shares inch higher after Wall Street gains

[TOKYO] Tokyo stocks opened fractionally higher Tuesday following overnight gains on Wall Street, as investors searched for fresh news to move the market.

The benchmark Nikkei 225 index rose 0.06 per cent, or 14.27 points, to 22,521.59 in early trade while the broader Topix index was up 0.04 per cent, or 0.63 points, at 1,733.53.
