Tokyo: Shares jump on BOJ policy tweaks
[TOKYO] Tokyo stocks soared Wednesday after the Bank of Japan tweaked its monetary easing plan in a renewed attempt to jumpstart inflation and the lukewarm economy.
The benchmark Nikkei 225 index shed early losses to climb 1.91 per cent or 315.47 points to 16,807.62 by the close.
The Topix index of all first-section issues surged 2.71 per cent, or 35.70 points, to 1,352.67.
